1) How many roof tiles will I need?

Coverage of our standard Nib Tile roof tile is between 60 to 65 per Square Meter.

2) How do you make your roof tiles?

We employ the use of hand operated moulds used for centuries in making clay roof tiles.
The sand/manganese and sawdust/manganese is thrown into the mould. We then put
in the clay; cut off the excess with a chicken wire and press into the mould.  The clay roof
tiles are then removed from the mould and placed on trays in 'drying areas'.

Our terracotta clay roof tiles dry naturally which takes around 14 days.  Once dried, we
place them in the kiln by hand.  As we use wood and rice husk to fire the kiln, it takes around one week to get the temperature to the correct level to ensure optimum firing.  We hold the
temperature for 7 days before allowing the kiln to cool down.  This takes a further 7 days.

This process results in a clay roof tile which is totally handmade and fired in a traditional manner.

DARK ANTIQUE - Made using manganese mixed with sawdust to produce a dark
weathered finish.  This roof tile can be used on its own or mixed with medium red antique
and plain red antique to produce a multi coloured roof.

MEDIUM RED ANTIQUE - This is also a mix of manganese with sawdust
(slightly less manganese) to produce a weathered roof tile with shades of terracotta
coming through the tile.

PLAIN RED ANTIQUE - Again this is made using sawdust and a dash of manganese
to produce a plain terracotta clay roof tile with a hint of black to give a light weathered effect.

3) What colours do you make?

All our roof tiles are produced to look like Reclaimed Clay Tiles.

A Dark Antique colour is produced using manganese and sawdust which is evenly spread in to
the mould to produce a dark weathered effect.

The Medium Red Antique is again produced using a mixture of manganese and sawdust
thrown into the mould. This produces a muted weathered terracotta effect.

Red Antique is produced using plain sawdust with a small amount of manganese thrown
into the mould to produce a plain slightly weathered look.

4) Can you mix the colours?

Due to the very nature of the handmade process, our roof tiles do vary in look and finish even
in the same batch. For optimum effect regardless of the colour you choose; we recommend
that roof tiles from all pallets bought, are mixed together when fixing. This will ensure that
traditional distinctive look is achieved.

Our Dark Antique, Medium Red and Red Antique roof tiles can be bought separately or mixed in any variation required.

5) Are your Roof Tiles Frost Proof and up to BS EN Standards?

Our roof tiles are tested regularly for frost and strength resistance. Each production run is
randomly tested by our quality control department to ensure that the roof tiles conform to
BS EN Standards.

BS EN539-2:1998    Resistance to Frost Damage

BS EN538: 1994      Strength Resistance

Our Roof Tiles carry a Factory Guarantee for 25 years.

6) What Guarantee do you provide?

Our roof tiles conform to BS EN Standards for strength and frost resistance and carry
a Factory Guarantee for 25 years.
